Hidemi Shimura - from the Silent Invaders series

Hidemi is a young Japanese artist whom I first encountered via the Hitomi Bushi d'Eau gallery in Paris. The Silent Invader series, intricately constructed from embroidery thread wrapped round pieces of Perspex, refers to the ubiquity of bar codes in our lives - omnipresent, but never looked at. The bar codes used by the artist in these pieces come from books which have had a big influence on her.

I have shown and sold works from this series in London and Edinburgh, but I still have four works remaining, dimensions 24 x 12 cm, priced at £280 each. These pieces are hard to photograph, but please get in touch if you would like me to send you images, or if you are based in the North East of England I will be happy to bring them round.
